BRYAN The Texas Department of Transportation has scheduled two upcoming public meetings on the proposed construction of an extension of State Highway 249 from Houston to Highway 105 in Navasota.
The so-called "Aggie Highway" would provide an alternative route between Houston and College Station to the current Highway 290/Highway 6 route.
The 249 extension is already being constructed in Montgomery County, but plans are in the works for the Grimes County section from FM 1774 to State Highway 105, which connects to Highway 6 in Navasota.
Thursday, March 27 at 7pm a meeting is scheduled at the Plantersville Town Hall for TX-DOT to present its recommended plan for construction.
And then an open house is scheduled for Thursday, April 3rd from 5:30 to 7:30pm at the Grimes County Expo Center in Navasota to gather input from the public.
