PLANO, Texas (AP) A North Texas woman has been accused of using duct tape and suffocating her fiance's 2-year-old daughter as the couple broke up.

Collin County jail records show 25-year-old Melinda Muniz of Plano was being held Wednesday on a charge of capital murder of a person under 6 years of age. No attorney was listed for Muniz, who was arrested Tuesday and bond set at $1 million.

Plano police say Muniz faked a report about an attacker breaking into the couple's apartment Jan. 9. Police found Grace Lillian Ford unconscious with duct tape over her mouth. The toddler died Jan. 12.

An arrest affidavit says the child's father earlier on Jan. 9 told Muniz he was calling off their engagement and wanted her to move out.
