Texas A&M Employee Arrested on Theft Charges

College Station A Texas A&M University employee has been charged with stealing thousands of dollars in cash rent payments from tenants at the University Apartments.

Until recently, Courtnie Nichols of Bryan was an office associate with A&M's Department of Residence Life.

Police say she took nearly $18,000 between July 2012 and last September.

A warrant was obtained and investigators say she turned herself in Thursday. Her bond is set at $5,000.

Theft of up to $20,000 is a state jail felony, punishable by a prison term of up to two years and/or a $10,000 fine. The case has been turned over to the Brazos County District Attorney's Office for possible prosecution.
