A&M Police Continue Investigation Into Friday Bomb Threat

Updated: Mon 10:31 PM, Oct 22, 2012

Texas A&M Police are still trying to figure out who e-mailed in a bomb threat to campus Friday, forcing the evacuation of more than 50,000 people.

Police aren't saying if they have any new leads yet or how the investigation is going but say they are pleased with how the community and local agencies reacted to the threat.

While the campus has received bomb threats before this was the first time the entire campus had to be evacuated.

Classes were cancelled and campus was evacuated for more than four hours.

No dangerous device was ever found.

"Again it's an ongoing investigation and officers are diligently working to find out who's responsible for this. It is our number one priority right now to find out who is responsible for this," said Lt. Allan Baron, with the Texas A&M University Police Department.

The e-mail threat was received by the Texas A&M Computing and Information Services Department and did not specify where the reported bomb was placed.

Further details on what the e-mail said are not being released at this time.
