On Saturday February 9, the City of Magnolia will have its first Mardi Gras which will be similar to Galveston's celebration.

The town hopes to gather about 2,000 people to come out and dance down the Stroll with Umbrellas for the Dancing Umbrella Parade.
The parade route will go from the Magnolia Methodist church to Sullivan Park.

The goal is to make a new Guinness Book of World Records.
Organizers say they need your help and everyone is invited to participate.

"You don't have to be on a team to join the dancing umbrella parade, just come out the day of sign up starts at 3 p.m. The parade starts at 4:30 p.m. and you too can be apart of the Guinness Book of World Record for Magnolia," said Tana Ross with the City of Magnolia.

The event will include food and music until 8 p.m. The Greg Tivis New Orleans Dixieland Jazz band will provide entertainment for the event.
