According to Brazos County Jail records, 21-year-old Christopher Michael Hernandez was arrested early Thursday morning in connection with the murder of 19-year-old Billy Joe Menard, Jr.

Bryan Police reports show that Hernandez was at the scene of the crime and allegedly drove 18-year-old Travis Carroll and 22-year-old Clayton Thompson to Menard's apartment.

Thompson was brought in because police wanted to question him about the murder of Menard. He was taken into custody at a store on FM 2223 on a motion to revoke warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

News 3 was told police have substantial evidence gathered from interviews with Thompson, 22, to obtain an arrest warrant for murder.

Then Wednesday evening, Carroll was arrested on Putter Court in College Station and charged with murder. Like Thompson, he was confined in the Brazos County jail.

Carroll, Thompson and Hernandez are being held in the Brazos County Jail on $100,000 bound.

Police believe just after 4:00 a.m. Saturday morning, Menard was shot and killed at his residence at Wilde Oak Apartments in Bryan. Menard had previously been a student at Blinn College.

In a probable cause statement for Thompson, it appears this crime stemmed from a disagreement over marijuana. KBTX has also learned it appears a shotgun was used to kill Menard.

According to statements in a police report, a witness at the scene claims Thompson fired the fatal shot. Carroll reportedly stated to police that around midnight Saturday, he sold Menard a "baggie" of marijuana and Menard became angry that the weed was not of a good quality.

In the police report, Carroll claims Menard kept the marijuana and refused to pay him. According to police, Carroll stated that he left and contacted Thompson about what had happened.

The report states that Carroll says he, Thompson, and Hernandez went back to Menard's apartment. In the report, Carroll told police he stayed downstairs while the other two went up to Menard's door.
