DALLAS -- About 27,000 Atmos Energy customers have been accidentally charged 10 times the amount of their bill.
Company spokeswoman Jennifer Ryan tells The Dallas Morning News that the mistake happened to customers who have their bill automatically deducted from their checking accounts or credit cards.
She says they expect the issue to be resolved "within 24 to 72 hours."
Ryan says the Dallas-based company will work with each customer to reimburse any fees incurred because of the mistake. She says the company will work "to assure their financial needs will be taken care of."
