Approximately 5600 marijuana plants have been seized in a heavily wooded and undeveloped tract of land in eastern Montgomery County.

Officials with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office report that the seizure took place around 6:30AM Wednesday, when investigators with the Special Investigations Unit served a search warrant.

Thousands of plants as well as items used to cultivate the plants have been confiscated.

The marijuana was first identified by SIU during a flyover of wooded areas.

No arrests have been made at this time but an investigation is ongoing.

The Montgomery County SIU was assisted by Montgomery County ATTF and District 3 Patrol, DPS Narcotics and DPS Air Wing, DEA and DEA Air Wing, ICE, Patton Village PD and Roman Forrest PD in the case.
