A cold front will approach the Brazos Valley later today. Isolated areas of rain and thunderstorms could develop along and ahead of that front between mid-afternoon and early evening. Good news: rain & storm activity will be quick moving (1 hour or less). Bad news: a few severe thunderstorms are possible with large hail and strong, damaging winds being the main concern. A brief, isolated tornado threat cannot be ruled out, as well.
BRYAN- Strong thunderstorms and high winds blew through the Brazos Valley area Thursday afternoon. The wind peeled the roof off a mobile home on Highway 21 in Bryan.
Juan Guerrero and his family came home Thursday to find friends and neighbors trying to pull the roof back into place. It was the only trailer in the mobile park that sustained roof damage. Guerrero is thankful for the help he received from friends. "I came over here and I was real glad, yea my roof was bad, but all my neighbors were already over here trying to help us straighten it out," Guerrero says.
Rain flooded parts of the home. Guerrero says they don't have insurance and will not be able to stay at the home until the roof can be repaired.
