HOUSTON (AP) A security guard at a Houston condominium complex has been fatally shot and police are seeking a man who fled after being denied entry.

Police say the shooting happened early Friday near a small security structure at an entrance to the gated complex. The wounded guard was transported to a Houston hospital, where he was declared dead.

The name of the guard, who was in his first week of work at the complex, wasn't immediately released. His gun is missing.

Witnesses reported seeing a man minutes earlier trying to visit someone at the complex, but was not allowed to enter. Police say the man left. The guard was shot minutes later.

Police are reviewing security camera video.

Further details weren't immediately available.
