Train Derails in Madison County, Sending One to Hospital

Highway 39 and King Road in Madison County are back open after a train derailment near the community of North Zulch.

Investigators say a freight train slammed into a Sanderson Farms chicken truck carrying live chickens between North Zulch and Normangee Monday evening.

The driver of the truck was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan in stable condition.

Madison County Sheriff's investigators, the Normangee Volunteer Fire Department, the North Zulch Volunteer Fire Departments, the Madisonville Fire Department as well as the Texas Department of Public Safety were called to the scene.

The crash is under investigation.

Madison County Emergency Management doesn't believe there is a danger to the public.
