Tremor Unnerves East Texans; No Damage Reported

TIMPSON, Texas A sharp earth tremor hit a rural East Texas area, causing little reported damage but unnerving residents.

The U.S. Geological Survey recorded the 4.1 magnitude earthquake at 4:52 p.m. CDT Monday centered about 2 miles west-northwest of the town of Timpson. That's about 150 miles east-southeast of Dallas and 60 miles southwest of Shreveport, La.

Timpson police Officer Adam Renfro says he had received reports of dishes and pictures falling from walls but no significant damage.
