Tuskegee Airmen P-51 Fighter Plane on Display at Hearne Airport

HEARNE- You have a chance to see and maybe touch a piece of history from World War Two this weekend in Hearne.

The Commemorative Air Force has a Red Tail Squadron P-51 Mustang fighter parked at the Hearne Airport.

It's a plane like the ones flown by the African-American military pilots known at the Tuskegee Airmen.

It's there in conjunction with the "Rise Above" traveling exhibit on the Airmen.

Commemorative Air Force Pilot Doug Rozendaal says, "It's a travelling exhibit that uses the excitement of the airplane and some technology inside a mobile exhibit that allows us to show a documentary on a 180-degree panoramic screen."

The exhibit is for everybody, especially students who are getting a chance to preview it before Saturday's opening.

The plane and exhibit are open for viewing on Saturday from 10-to-4 at the Hearne Municipal Airport and Camp Hearne Historic Site.
