Power has been restored to thousands of San Antonio residents who lost electricity after two unrelated incidents, including the toppling of a new transmission tower.
CPS Energy spokesman Albert Cantu said Wednesday that investigators will try to determine what caused the tower to buckle as non-energized power lines were being attached. The falling multi-story tower took out two other circuits and interrupted electricity to about 6,000 CPS customers.
Cantu says nobody was hurt in the incident around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, at a site northwest of San Antonio. Electricity was restored within three hours.
Cantu says 19 businesses in downtown San Antonio, including several hotels, lost power around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday when a San Antonio Water Systems breaker malfunctioned. He says electricity was restored by around 10:30 p.m.
