BRAZOS COUNTY — On Tuesday, January 7, 2014, beginning at 8:30am, the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT’s) contractor will begin closures of two SH 6 southbound ramps and a southbound frontage road lane between FM 158 (E William J Bryan Parkway) and FM 1179 (Briarcrest Drive).
The SH 6 southbound exit ramp to FM 1179 will be closed and traffic wanting to access FM 1179 will be detoured to the FM 158 exit ramp. Additionally, the SH 6 southbound entrance ramp south of FM 158 will be closed and traffic wanting to enter SH 6 will have to use the next entrance ramp.
The inside lane of the SH 6 southbound frontage road will also be closed between FM 158 and FM 1179, leaving one lane of traffic.
Along with these closures, a construction speed zone will be in place. The speed limit will be reduced to 60 mph within the work area for the SH 6 southbound mainlane traffic only.
The closures and speed zone are expected to be in place for approximately two months. This work is part of the $9.6 million dollar SH 6 Ramps Project contracted to Big Creek Construction. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of December 2014.
