Unemployment Down in Brazos Valley

New unemployment numbers being released this week show unemployment is slowly improving across the Brazos Valley.

New numbers released from Texas Workforce Solutions say in August there were 6,592 people without jobs in Brazos County.

That puts unemployment at 6.7 percent, down from 7 percent in July.

Robertson County saw the biggest drop in unemployment for August. They're at 8.6 percent, down from 9.3 percent.

Here is the breakdown county-by-county:

August 2011 (unemployment rates)

Brazos County: 6.7%
Burleson County: 7.1 %
Grimes County: 8.4 %
Leon County: 8.4 %
Madison County: 8.5 %
Robertson County: 8.6 %
Washington County: 6.7 %

June 2011 (unemployment rates)

Brazos County: 7 %
Burleson County: 7.7 %
Grimes County: 8.7 %
Leon County: 8.7 %
Madison County: 9 %
Robertson County: 9.3 %
Washington County: 6.9 %
