The United Way of the Brazos Valley has hired Andy Martin as its new President and CEO.
Laurie Garrett, the United Way of the Brazos Valley's Vice President for Marketing & Relationship Mgmt., sent out a brief message Thursday afternoon, which read in part:
"We have extended an offer to Andy Martin to be the next President/CEO of the United Way of Brazos Valley and he has accepted our offer. We are very excited about this development and have every expectation that he will join our organization in February."
Martin is listed on a United Way website as hailing from Salina, Kansas and has worked with the United Way of Greater Kansas City.
The hiring comes after the resignation of former President & CEO Hank Roraback in April of 2012. It was announced that the organization was delinquent on payments it had promised to many other non-profit organizations.
In a March press release, the organization announced new accounting procedures, including the hiring of a new firm to conduct a review of financials and to oversee them in the future.
More than 20 agencies in seven counties rely on the local United Way for fundraising efforts. According to their website, nearly 75 percent of the population served by the agencies UWBV helps fund are low-income families.
