Scores of tourists once flocked to a North Texas town for its mineral baths -- which are starting to make a comeback.

Famous Water Co. is helping revive Mineral Wells' long-dormant roots by bringing back the baths that lost popularity after World War II. The company also sells its mineral water, called Crazy Water, in Texas and six other western states.

Carol Elder bought the 109-year-old company with her husband 14 years ago. She says the company just ended the year with a 45 percent growth increase.

The town's unusual water was legendary in the early 1900s for its rumored powers to cure a host of ailments. The town had several lavish hotels that drew the likes of Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable and a future president, Lyndon B. Johnson.
