A woman is recovering tonight after police say the vehicle she was driving was hit by a truck, and the driver took off on foot.

Police arrested 35 year old Ricardo Salazar Saturday night for hit and run, but that’s not the only charge he’s facing.

Investigators say around 11:30 last night, police pulled over Salazar for a traffic stop in Bryan. When the officer asked Salazar for a driver’s license, he drove away at a high rate of speed.

In the meantime, police received a call about a hit and run from the victim, 49 year old Gerrie Maxey.

Salazar was found in the backyard of the house a short time later. He was identified as the hit and run suspect and the person who fled from police.

He’s charged with evading in a vehicle and driving while intoxicated.
