A Bryan woman is recovering after being hit by a car as she tried to cross the street.

It happened around 9 o'clock Friday night on East 29th Street in Bryan near the Dairy Queen.

Police say the 26-year-old woman was in the center turn lane trying to cross when a Toyota station wagon struck her.

The driver reportedly didn't see the woman and that actually created another accident as two vehicles heading south swerved to avoid the woman in the road.

"Yes sir. We were driving and there was a lady that crossed the road and another car that was in front of us hit her and we, she was the lady that was crossing the road was in front of us and we swerved to get out of her way, we we almost hit her but thank God we didn't and another car hit us," said Veronica Brown of Bryan, who witnessed the accident.

The woman was taken to Saint Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan and has since been released.
