A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect for Milam, Robertson, Lee, and Leon Counties from 12am to 12pm THURSDAY. After a strong afternoon cold front, brisk north winds -- 20-25mph -- will continue to drop temperature to / just above a freeze tonight. A groundbreaking ceremony was held by St. Joseph Catholic School officials at its elementary school campus on Thursday to launch an extensive renovation project.
The original building was built in 1929, but now the new additions will include a new cafeteria, main office, conference room and new classrooms.
Also there will be a new circular entrance to the school that's designed to ease traffic and provide space for the private homes located across the street from the school.
Construction should be completed in time for the fall 2008 semester.
This is the first time since the 1950's that there will be a new construction project at the school.
Among those attending yesterday's ceremony will included Monsignor John McCaffrey, Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church; Michael Burke, St. Joseph Catholic School System President along with school representatives and those overseeing the building.
