Wednesday was a special day for an Iola woman.
Myrtle Worsham Gorbit, a lifelong Grimes County resident who was born on January 9, 1914, celebrated her 104th birthday.
Besides having a broken ankle, Myrtle's only daughter, Joyce says there's nothing wrong with her mother and the therapist at the College Station Medical Center all agree.
Because she's such a special patient, when she arrived for therapy she was surprised with a birthday cake and a balloon.
Joyce says the hospital workers all love her spunky mother and all agree she is a hoot.
Before marrying her husband, Joe, Myrtle and her five brothers and sisters all worked in the cotton fields along the Brazos bottom as children.
