Brazos Valley Burn Bans: The following counties are under a Burn Ban: Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Houston, Lee, Leon, Madison, Milam, Robertson, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, Washington
KBTX Media, in partnership with the United Way, will broadcast a one-day fundraising effort on Wednesday, September 17th, to help those directly affected by Hurricane Ike.
This all day broadcast on KBTX will begin at 5:30am Wednesday morning, and will conclude at 10:35pm. As we have done in the past with the annual Food For Families Food Drive, we will have our broadcast center located at the Brazos Center where we will be accepting your monetary donations or contributions of ready to eat non perishable food items including, but not limited to breakfast bars, tuna packets, pop-top edible items (ravioli, canned fruit), fruit cups, and cereal – items that do not require a can opener.
For this fundraising effort, our on air team from News 3, KBTX employees, and generous volunteers will be ready to take your donations from your car to make the process simple and easy for you.
Our goal is to raise funds that will go directly to United Way of the Brazos Valley. United Way has been designated by the Brazos Valley Council of Governments to be the official distributing agent of these funds, donations, and contributions. The United Way will then allocate, in the most beneficial way possible, these specific donations to help those in our surrounding communities whose lives have been affected by the recent Hurricane. Cash, Credit (all major cards except amex), and Checks (made out to United Way) are accepted.
We are asking all of our partners in media, our advertisers, and associates to please help in any way possible. If you have any questions about how you can help, you can contact either Mandy Riske at 595-1589 or Jon Boaz at 595-1580.
