WACO (April 25, 2011)--A Waco woman was in custody Monday charged with child endangerment after her child fell out of her car and was struck by another vehicle.
Kyeshia Gaines, 23, was held Monday in the McLennan County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.
The accident happened at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of South 18th Street and Primrose Avenue.
A witness told police the child fell out of the car's back seat and said the mother was not aware the child had fallen from the vehicle.
Police said there was no child seat in the back of the car.
Jonathan Howard, an MCC student who witnessed the accident, told News 10 Monday the child was an infant boy who’s about 12 months old.
He said he saw the baby fall out of the car and then saw a second vehicle roll over the infant.
He said he stopped and went to help.
He said the infant had blood on his face and tire marks on his back.
When Gaines realized the child had fallen out of the car, she came back to the scene, police said.
The child was taken to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center at about 7 p.m. Sunday.
The child's condition has not been released.
