The computer hacker group Anonymous is promising to crash various Orlando websites this week.
The group is credited with crashing the websites of Visa and
Mastercard in support of Wikileaks.
In emails to the Orlando Sentinel, the group promised to bring
down a different website each day, including orlandofloridaguide.com. The privately owned tourism site went down Tuesday morning.
Anonymous says the website attacks are in retaliation for the
city's arrest of members of Orlando Food Not Bombs. That group has
been feeding large numbers of homeless people in Lake Eola Park in
defiance of an ordinance requiring permits to feed large groups in
The cyber attacks follow last week's attacks on the websites for
the Orlando Chamber of Commerce and Universal Studios.
