DALLAS (AP) - A 20-year-old Plano man has pleaded guilty to
misdemeanor assault and will serve a form of probation for punching
a UCLA tennis player.

A jury was in its second day of deliberations Thursday when
Chancellor Jay Hutcheson told the judge he wanted to enter the
plea. He was sentenced to 18 months of community supervision. He
must also serve up to 80 hours of community service and pay a
$2,000 fine.

Hutcheson hit 22-year-old Jeffrey Fleming at Fair Park after a
concert in June 2009. Fleming fell to the ground, hitting his head
against the pavement, resulting in a brain injury.

The defense had argued that Hutcheson acted in self-defense, but
prosecutors said he made a clear choice to strike Fleming.
