TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Authorities are searching for the parents of a toddler who was found wandering alone in a north Tulsa neighborhood.
Police say the girl is believed to between 18 months and 2 years old and did not show any signs of neglect or abuse. Latoria Simmons says she discovered the child walking alone outside her home at about 10:30 p.m. Monday.
Simmons tells the Tulsa World that she went door-to-door looking for the girl's parents before contacting police at about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. Another neighbor, Angela Brown, took the child to her home, changed her diaper and gave her a bath.
Brown says the girl said the words "puppy," ''mommy" and "daddy" but did not say her name.
Police say the girl is now in protective custody.
