BRYAN Traffic along Highway Six in Bryan was backed up Friday afternoon after a wrong way driver caused an accident near Briarcrest Drive.
Kelley McKethan with the Bryan Police Department said around 3:45, Carolyn Harper, 33, was driving a Ford Mustang northbound in a southbound lane on Highway 6.
At some point, a Honda attempted to swerve out of the way, but was hit in the rear by the Mustang. McKethan said the Mustang then hit another vehicle before finally coming to a stop.
The driver of a third vehicle ended up in a ditch while trying to avoid the collision, police said.
Harper, along with another driver was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan in stable condition. Police said they don't suspect alcohol played a role in the crash.
Harper was cited for driving the wrong way on a one-way road.
So far, no word on why Harper was driving the wrong way.
