The only reason Caldwell is still putting on "half" of the Kolache Festival is so they don't lose money. The vendors paid quite a bit of money for their spots. If they choose not to show up, then Caldwell keeps the money. If Caldwell cancels the Festival, then they have to give refunds to the vendors. Don't you just love how Caldwell puts money above the safety of people? Mr. Mayor, you should have postponed or cancelled the Kolache Festival this year. Shame on you.

The Hallaron Pool on Rock Prairie closed Thursday afternoon and all day today which is a bummer because it was and is really nice out. Friday will be a nice day too. Tomorrow will be wind and rain. Enjoy the weather, respect mother nature, and let go of the fear. Life is short enjoy what you have.

Caldwell folks: Lets not overlook the fact that Ike is shaping up JUST LIKE RITA DID a couple years ago. Everyone was hollering 'death and destruction' and we woke up the morning after Rita was supposed to hit and it was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL day. And if K-fest is cancelled it's not just the city government that will be affected. I grew up in Caldwell and and have seen the enormous economic impact it has on the city. Every hotel, restaurant, gas station, museum and shop is packed the second Saturday of September not to mention that it's bigger than homecoming for people who have lived in the community. For the past several years I've gone to K-fest to see friends, some of which I haven't seen since we graduated high school. So don't put away your "jak se mas" coozie just yet. We're still more than 20 hours away from kickoff.
