Prostate Cancer, fortunately, can be screened for rather successfully with a Digital Rectal Examination and a PSA, which is a blood test. With Digital Rectal Exam and PSA screening, very often, Prostate Cancer can be found at a stage when patients have no symptoms and when the disease is highly treatable.

There are many options for the treatment of Prostate Cancer at an early stage. There are surgical options and there are radiotherapy options. As a general statement, surgery for early Prostate Cancer is equivalent to radiation. Both treatments are quite effective in resulting in long-term cure.

The choice of treatment is largely dependent upon physician and patient.
