Sgt. David Slanker, Officer Ron Stautzenberger, Officer Brent Travis and Detective Travis Hines were selected to represent the department. They reported Wednesday morning to the Galveston Emergency Operations Center and were assigned to support the Tiki Island Police Department.
The Bryan Police Department will continue to evaluate future requests and make all attempts to support fellow officers in need.
“I pray for those who have volunteered for this assignment,” said Bryan Police Chief Tyrone Morrow. “I pray that they will make us proud and protect those in need.”
The officers are being housed in a church on Tiki Island and are covering nighttime operations consisting of recovery efforts and looting patrol. There is currently no water and electricity in the area.
