Old Bryan Marketplace was named a finalist in the Best Downtown Business category, and the Brazos Valley Decorative Center was named a finalist in the Best Renovation/Rehabilitation category for the 2009 Texas Downtown Association Presidents Awards Program.

The Best Downtown Business award recognizes an exceptional downtown business that positively promotes the downtown or commercial district as a destination and participates in revitalization efforts. The Best Renovation/Rehabilitation award recognizes excellence in rehabilitation of the interior or exterior of an existing building.

Old Bryan Marketplace is owned by Kay Conlee. Ray Jezisek is the owner of Brazos Valley Decorative Center.

The award winners will be announced at a gala in Tyler on Nov. 5.

Bryan was awarded Texas Downtown Association awards in 2008 for downtown infrastructure improvements and in 2007 for Texas Reds Steak and Grape Festival.

Since 1998, the awards program has recognized more than 150 projects, events and people that make a difference in Texas downtowns.
