Rodney Harris Announces His Departure From KBTX

After more than three years on the air at KBTX, weather anchor Rodney Harris is leaving the Brazos Valley to take on a new challenge in the southeast.

Harris will become a weather producer at the CBS affiliate in Atlanta, working on the forecasts for a 32-county region surrounding one of the largest metro areas in the country.

His last shows at News 3 will be Wednesday's Brazos Valley This Morning and noon show.

While he has been on the air since July of 2006, Harris began at KBTX in the summer of 2004, working behind the scenes in the studio and as a master control operator. He also has been integral in enhancing into the top source for local news and information in the Brazos Valley

This new opportunity for Harris continues KBTX's tradition of helping produce weather talent that have gone on to major job opportunities, including former CNN meteorologist Orelon Sidney, KTRK's Travis Herzog, Texas Cable News' Roger Barry, Jeff Jamison at CBS11 in Dallas, and Troy Kimmel at KEYE in Austin.

The entire KBTX family wishes Rodney nothing but the best in this fantastic new opportunity, and thank him for his contributions to News 3.
