The Blood Center of Brazos Valley is pleased to announce the promotion of Chris Baker as its new director. In this position, Baker will oversee all blood center operations in the Brazos Valley service area, including product management and mobile and facility collections for the region.
The Blood Center, located at 1701 Rock Prairie Road in College Station, is an affiliate of Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center and is the primary blood supplier to Brazos Valley hospitals
“I look forward to continue working with our Brazos Valley staff to ensure we meet the patients’ needs in our area,” said Baker. “As a community blood supplier, our local staff, facility and now product laboratory will allow us to better serve area and surrounding hospitals in our region.”
Baker most recently served as manager of The Blood Center of Brazos Valley, where he was instrumental in opening The Blood Center’s Neighborhood Donor Center in College Station and expanding Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center’s service area into Brazos Valley.
Before joining The Blood Center, Baker worked as a team leader for the Heart of Texas American Red Cross in College Station. Prior to that, he worked as a lab technician at the Womack Army Medical Center in North Carolina. Baker earned a bachelor’s degree in Community Health from Sam Houston State University.
“Under Chris’ leadership, the Brazos Valley program has grown into a well-run, efficient program that is exceeding its collection goals,” said Doug McClain, Chief Information and Donor Services Officer for The Blood Center. “I look forward to Chris leading our Brazos Valley operation as we begin producing and distributing blood components out of the Brazos Valley center.”
The donations collected at this affiliate location are vital to patients in this area as the donations stay in this community to benefit hospitals in nine Brazos Valley counties.
