On October 5, 2009 through October 8, 2009, the Bryan Police Department’s Tactical Response Team (TRT) participated in the Texas Tactical Police Officer Association (TTPOA) SWAT Competition. The Bryan Police Department’s Tactical Response Team (TRT) is a volunteer/part-time Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) unit made up of Bryan PD officers who serve in regular, full-time positions in every division of the department. These officers dedicate many additional hours of training and active service to the TRT outside of their regular duties so that they, the Bryan Police Department and the City of Bryan are well prepared whenever a situation arises requiring their high level of tactical expertise.
The competition was held in Nacogdoches, Texas and teams from across the state of Texas and Louisiana participated in the competition. After the four day SWAT event, Bryan’s Tactical Response Team (TRT) as a whole finished 7th overall. The Bryan’s Tactical Response Team (TRT) team came in 3rd place in the Super SWAT Competition. Bryan’s Tactical Response Team (TRT) came back with new knowledge and experiences which will improve the team’s capability to help keep the City of Bryan the safest City in the Great State of Texas.
Please congratulate any of the team members you see for a job well done in this competition and for their willingness to serve in an often dangerous and time consuming role of TRT officers. The Tactical Response Team represented not only the Bryan Police Department well, but also the City and citizens of Bryan and are to be commended.
