Cliff Latham, who leads the College Station Adventure Boot Camp, the #5 ranked Boot Camp in America, decided to donate money for their 'Squat for Cancer Fundraiser' to the American Cancer Society in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
"I decided that instead of just making a donation on behalf of our many Boot Camp Survivors, that we would all squat for the cause and have a little fun and fitness with it. For every squat that we did on October 30, $.01 is going to be donated to our local chapter of the American Cancer Society," Latham said.
Exercise Physiologist, Cliff Latham, M.S., owner of Fitness Together Training Studio, the Adventure Boot Camp and Elements Therapeutic Massage, thought the idea was a fun way to help the cause, especially since many of the Boot Camp participants are breast cancer survivors.
Latham said, "We are going to present the check for over 16,400 squats ($164.00) that were completed, to Trixy Roy, a local American Cancer Society representative at the Boot Camp Awards Ceremony, Friday morning, November 13, 2009, at Sweet Eugenes"
Several of the boot camp athletes, also decided to make an additional donation on their own as well.
You may contact Trixy Roy at the American Cancer Society, Bryan Branch, at 979-776-1463 and press option 3.
