It’s been reported that some hospitals are performing an average of 500 amputations a day, and these hospitals do not have crutches to send home with these amputee patients. In an area where wheelchairs are impractical and cannot be easily navigated in the streets, Haitians are in desperate need of crutches.
For the next two weeks, Cub Scout Pack 60 will be collecting crutches to deliver to Haiti. “The crutches can be used or new – it doesn’t matter. If you don’t have any, ask friends and family,” says relief coordinator Bryan Pope.
If you wish to donate crutches to help the relief effort in Haiti, please contact Bryan Pope to find out how to donate this much needed item.
