Valentin A. Ortega Jr., 68, of Bryan passed away April 15, 2012 in Austin, surrounded by his loving family.




Services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday, April 19, in the Sanctuary of Praise with Pastor Jose Alaniz officiating. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, in the chapel of Trevino-Smith Funeral Home.





Valentin was born January 15, 1944 in San Angelo, Texas to Valentin Sr. and Agustina (Aguero) Ortega. He was known to be an entrepreneur. He previously owned Kika's Authentic Mexican Restaurant and Valentino's Cantina Bar & Grill in Arkansas. After retiring from Chevron Oil Co., Valentin enjoyed spending his free time listening to his oldies music and drive around in his Cadillac.





Everyone who knew Valentin loved him.





He is preceded in death by both of his parents and one brother.





He is survived by his wife, Frances Ortega; two sons, Nick and Irene Ortega, Valentin Ortega III and Roxanna Jones; three daughters, Beatrice and Daniel Jr. Sanchez, Eva Jones and Jose Loreado, Angela Ortega; one brother, Carlos Ortega; one sister, Eva Perez; sixteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.





A special thank you goes out to all the staff on the second floor of St. David's Hospital and to The Christopher House Hospice facility in Austin, Texas.
