Leo E. McGinnis, 84, of Richards passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at the St. Joseph Regional Health Center. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Nobles Funeral Chapel with a parish rosary to follow.





A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan with Monsignor John McCaffrey officiating. Rite of committal will follow at 2 p.m. in the St. John's Catholic Church Cemetery in Fayetteville with the Rev. Stephen Nesrsta officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.





Leo was born May 27, 1927, in Beaumont, Texas, the son of George Allison & Katherine Elizabeth (Isaacks) McGinnis. He married Evelen Kubala on February 8, 1948, in Fayetteville and loved her for 50 years before her death in 1998. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Philippines during WWII and then worked for Texaco for 42 1/2-years. After retiring, he served as the P.M.R. at the Richards Post Office for 16 years. Leo was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 4054 in Anderson.





Mr. McGinnis was preceded in death by his loving wife, Evelen McGinnis; his parents, and all seven of his siblings.





Survivors include his son, Larry McGinnis of Richards; sisters-in-law, Charlene McGinnis of Midland and Marie Prihoda of Bryan; and numerous nieces and nephews.





Pallbearers will be Glenn Brunson of Midland, Jimmy Bailey of Navasota, Al McGinnis of Ferris, Joe D'Agostino of Killeen, John Blair and Joseph Blair both of Bryan.





In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 600 E. 26th St., Bryan, TX 77803.
