Nona Ruth Moore, 101, of Bryan, formerly of Quincy, Ill., died Friday April 27, 2012 at her home in Bryan. Services are set for 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Linda Hunsaker and Rev. Tracey Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in New Providence Cemetery, Ursa, Ill.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
She was born September 17, 1910 in Clayton, Illinois, the daughter of Ivan B. and Ella Edmonson Frankel. Nona graduated from Quincy High School in 1929 and married Lyman E. Moore on November 22, 1930 in Monmouth, Ill. He preceded her in death on December 11, 2000.
Mrs. Moore worked for 18 years as a bookkeeper at Davis-Cleaver. She was a 50-year member of Grace Whipple Chapter No. 312; a 70-year member of Quincy, Ill., First Christian Church and an 11-year member of First Christian Church in Bryan, Texas. While in Quincy, Nona did volunteer work at Sunset Home and at the First Christian Church. She had also delivered Meals on Wheels for several years. In 2001 Nona moved to Bryan, to be close to her daughter and family. Nona enjoyed her friends at Waldenbrook Estates Retirement community along with bible study and the women's group at the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Darlene Bernel and Vivian Abney; and her daughter-in-law, Joan Moore.
Survivors include a son, Roger E. Moore, Jacksonville, Ill.; a daughter, Margie Crouch and her husband, Arlen of Bryan; seven grandchildren, Jeff Moore of Springfield, Ill., Mike Moore, Jacksonville, Ill., Sharon Manker of St. Louis, Mo., Amy Williams of North Augusta, S.C., Debbie Guess, and Steve and Doug Crouch all of Bryan, Texas. Nona is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to First Christian Church in Quincy, Ill., or Bryan, Texas.
Hansen-Spear Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
