Velma June Hampton, 80, of Dublin passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2012. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 18, in First Baptist Church in Dublin with burial in the Old Dublin Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 17, at the Harrell Funeral Home.
Velma was born on July 22, 1931 in Cleveland, Texas. She was united in marriage to J. D. Hampton on February 3, 1951 in Brady. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught the Esther Ruth Sunday School Class from 1994 to 2011 and was a retired elementary school teacher.
She is survived by her husband, J. D. Hampton of Dublin; three daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie L. and Mark Mitzel of Waco, Cheryl A. and Joe Maxwell of Oak Hill, Florida, Bobbie J. and Sergio Tassinari of Denton; Her son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey D. and Ronnie Hampton of Georgetown, Texas; Her sister, Gloria Gilbert of Lindale, Texas; Her sister-in-law, Ouita Bratton of Rochelle, Texas; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
