June 22, 1938 – June 25, 2012




John Edward Elbrich, Sr., 74, of Bryan, passed away Monday, June 25 2012 at the Hospice Brazos Valley in-patient unit in Bryan. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 28 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Smetana Cemetery.




John was born June 22, 1938 in Bryan to Frank J. Elbrich and Mary (Watthuber) Elbrich. He retired from sheet metal work after 25 years of employment with Sheet Metal Workers Local Union #54, Houston. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, ranching, and loved riding his tractors.




He is preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother; and 3 sisters.




Survivors include his wife of 48 years Josephine Elbrich of Bryan; daughter Jean Ann Kohler and husband Michael of Huntsville; sons John Elbrich Jr. and fiancé Debbie Buescher of Bryan; Jay Elbrich and wife Robyn of Bryan; sister Jodi Mikulin of Bryan; and 6 grandchildren.




In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley at 502 W. 26th St. Bryan, TX 77803 or St. Joseph Catholic Church at 600 E. 26th St. Bryan, TX 77803. The family would also like to thank Dr. Terry Jenkins, Kenneth Hillner, and the staff of Hospice Brazos Valley for their compassion and care.
