Joseph P. Scanlan

April 20, 1935 – June 30, 2012




Joseph P. Scanlan, 77, entered into rest on June 30, 2012 in Bryan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 6, 2012, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 5, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan, with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.




Mr. Scanlan was born April 20, 1935 in Chicago, IL, the son of Francis Joseph and Mary Margaret (Morrow) Scanlan. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Scanlan was an electrical engineer and retired from IBM.




He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances (Galloway) Scanlan, and a brother, John Scanlan.




Survivors include his children, Kimberly Sparks, and Kevin Scanlan; sister, Peggy Martin; brothers, James Scanlan, Robert Scanlan, and Jerome Scanlan; grandchildren, Thomas Sparks, Sarah Sparks, MaryKatherine Sparks, Joseph Scanlan, III, and Kevin "Jake" Scanlan, Jr.




In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity, Friends of the Library, or St. Anthony Catholic Church.
