Luther Brack Daniel, 81, passed away peacefully at Barathaven Alzheimer's Special Care Center in O'Fallon, Missouri. A private burial will take place Friday, September 21, at Houston Veterans Cemetery. A celebration of his life will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, September 22, at the Kyle House in Bryan, Texas.




Brack was born in Lockney, Texas and was raised on a family farm about 65 miles SE of Amarillo. He joined the Marine Corp in 1946 and served in Korea. After his military service, he earned a Bachelor's degree in Animal Husbandry from West Texas State University.




He married Glynn Marie Carthel in 1954. They were the parents of four children and the grandparents of ten. Brack and Marie were divorced in 1973. Brack married Mary Eugenia Marchany, a State Department Diplomat, in 1974. Mary preceded him in death in 2010.




After graduating from college Brack worked for the Department of Agriculture in New Mexico. In 1958 opportunity took him into foreign agricultural development, which then blossomed into a 30-year career overseas in 13 different countries. Brack also spent time working for the Peace Corps, the United Nation Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and the Army Corps of Engineers. He retired in 1987 but continued to follow his wife Mary on international assignments in Venezuela, South Africa, and Mexico.




In 1994 Brack and Mary retired to Bryan where Brack engaged in his favorite pastime of restoring old farm tractors. He was a member of the Brazos Valley Antique Tractor and Engine Club as well as the American Legion.




Survivors include Son, Terry Daniel,his wife Verity, and their children, Alden and Conner: daughter, Jill McClellan and her daughter, Kori: daughter, Jade Thompson, her husband Andy, and their children, Annalea, Nat & Gus: daughter Justine, her husband Byron and their children, Megan, Madeline, Jake and Nash; and his sister, Jackye Jewett;
