T. J. Mitchell passed away at home with his family by his side, Monday evening September 24, 2012.




Memorial services are set for 11 a.m. Thursday, September 27, at Hilltop Lakes Chapel in Hilltop Lakes, Texas.




He was born on January 31, 1927 in Whitehall, Texas to Effie and A. J. Mitchell. He graduated from Alvin High School and attended the University of Houston before serving in WW II in Washington, D.C. He is a member of the Hilltop Lakes Chapel.




T.J. met no strangers, tackled any problem with brilliance, danced the Jitterbug effortlessly, sang in his beautiful tenor voice, and loved his family immensely. He will be sorely missed.




He is preceded in death by his six siblings; and his first wife, Emily Kannon Mitchell.




Survivors include his beloved wife, Joan; his daughter, Gayle Mitchell Bellomy; his son, Andy Mitchell and their spouses and children. Also surviving are his stepchildren, Mark Rigby and Lee Ann Rigby Solberg, their spouses, children and grandchildren.
