William Edward "Ed" Priest

William Edward "Ed" Priest passed away peacefully at Fortress Healthcare & Rehabilitation in College Station on Tuesday October 2, 2012. Ed was diagnosed with bone cancer in December 2011 and entered care at the Fortress in April 2012.




Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, but mostly just quiet time outdoors with his dogs, Bubba and Charlie.




After graduation from Caldwell High School, class of 1970, he was employed for several years by Alenco and then worked for Western Auto/Wilder Car Quest in Caldwell for 28 years in various positions.




During some of those years he lived on Harold Jones Ranch as a ranch caretaker.




Ed is preceded in death by his mother, Amanda Hildebrandt Priest of Caldwell, she preceded him in death by 31 years and 1 day. His father, Alton E. Priest, of Missouri; half-brother, James Flangen;




Survivors include his brother, Michael priest and wife Betty of Bryan; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; aunts, Donna McAntyre of Livingston and Esther Mielsch of Schulenburg.




The Family would like to extend a special thanks to Martha with Traditions Hospice and Ed's hospice nurse, Jo, for their attentive care and the Dr., nurses, and staff at the Fortress. Also to Michael, his "side kick" roommate at the fortress for his friendship support for these last few months.
