Fidencio Lopez Sr., 88, of Bryan, passed away at his home, on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.




A time for the family to receive friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Hillier Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at the funeral home with the Rev. Julian Silva officiating. Interment will follow at Bryan City Cemetery.




Fidencio was born on November 16, 1923 in Cameron, Texas to Seferino and Juana (Chavarria) Lopez. He married Severa Luz "Bertha" Segundo on December 21, 1947 in Bryan. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Lone Star Gas Company (Atmos Energy) for 37 years. Fidencio was a long time member of the First Mexican Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, camping and listening to his "Ranchera" music. The majority of his time was spent being a loving and devoted father and grandfather.




He is preceded in death by his parents, Seferino and Juana Lopez; his wife Severa Luz "Bertha" Lopez; sons, Joe Lopez Sr. and Daniel Lopez and grandson, Fidencio "J.R." Lopez III.




Fidencio leaves behind his sons and daughters-in-law, Fidencio Lopez Jr. and Gloria of Houston, Robert Lopez of Bryan, Jeff Lopez of Bryan, Mikel Lopez and Dora of Houston, Ruben Lopez and Theresa of Bryan and Sheryl Lopez of Navasota; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren along with numerous nephews and nieces.
