Julia "Kathleen" Pratt of Houston and College Station, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of October 5, 2012. She was born on October 18, 1936 in Beaumont, Texas to Max and Sarah Jones.




She married Jerald Lindsay Oaks in 1958. Jerry was employed by Phillips Petroleum and they lived in Louisiana, Corpus Christi, Houston, and Bartlesville, before moving overseas to Bogota Columbia. They had two children, Lindsay and Kristi. Jerry and Kathy parted ways in 1969, but she continued to shower her children with love and support the rest of her life.




Kathy moved to College Station, where she earned a degree in Journalism from Texas A&M University. In 1976 she married Robert "Bob" Pratt and moved to Houston to begin working for Dresser Industries in their Communications' Department. She handled their publications, and eventually their Trade Shows for 27 years, even as the company changed hands and became Baker Hughes. She traveled the country and the world helping to set up Trade Shows. She retired in 2003.




Her passions were photography, writing, travel, her greyhounds which she adopted, and her family and children. She had many challenges throughout her life, and faced them all with courage, grace, and tenacity.




She was preceded in death by her son Jerald "Lindsay" Oaks, Jr.




Survived by daughter Kristi and husband Mike Accarrino of Tavernier, Fla.; her brother Harry and wife Judy Jones of College Station, Texas and her grandchildren Sara, Gilbert and Gillian of Pullman Wash.




A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, October 13, at 1:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel, 2901 Texas Ave. South, College Station, Texas.
