Funeral services for Roy Richards, 82, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 11, in the First Baptist Church sanctuary with the Rev. Robin McGee and Dr. Mike Lawson officiating.




The family will receive friends in the Reception Hall at the church one hour prior to service time. Mr. Richards will be laid to rest at 2:30pm in Rose Hill Cemetery, Ardmore, Oklahoma.




Roy was born September 22, 1930, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Orville Anderson Richards and Lola (Carnahan) Richards and passed from this life on Sunday, October 7, 2012 in Sherman. Roy attended Norman High School, Norman, Oklahoma, and graduated at Offerle High School in Offerle, Kansas. He pursued his education at Fort Hays State University earning a BA in Mathematics in 1952. Roy served in the United States Army during 1953-1955. Roy married Eugenia Sullivan on April 2, 1961 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Roy was an engineer and began working with Sylvania Electric Products at Emporium, Pennsylvania and Shawnee, Oklahoma. In 1962, he was employed by Texas Instruments in Dallas then came to T.I. in Sherman retiring in 1991. Roy enjoyed spending time in the mountains, being outdoors, and trout fishing. He was an avid fan of OU football and loved being with his family.




Roy was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters-in-law, Ellen Tackett and Martha Thayer.




He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Eugenia of the Sherman home, sons, Dr. Mark Richards and his wife, Anne of College Station, Texas, and Scott Richards and his wife, Kristen of Coppell, Texas; six grandchildren, Jacqueline, Katherine, Ray, Ryan, Olivia, and Julia, sisters, Pat Bohanan of Oregon, and Kaye Richards of Montana, brothers-in-law, Ken Tackett and his wife, Betsy of Lake Kiowa, Texas, and Ed Thayer of Ardmore, Okla., and several nieces and nephews.




Pallbearers will be Ray Richards, Ryan Richards, Steve Tackett, David Spradlin, Eric Thayer, and Brad Elmore.
