Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan, with family visitation prior from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Burial will be at College Station Cemetery following the service.
Born August 26, 1927 in Denver, Colo., and went home to be with the Lord on October 9, 2012. He resided most recently in Round Rock, Texas, having previously lived in the Bryan/College Station area for a number of years.
Rev. Irvin began fulltime ministry in 1965. He served as minister of music and then as pastor for Southern Baptist churches in Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico. Most recently, he served in churches in the Bryan-College Station area – First Baptist Church North Zulch, Iola Missionary Baptist Church, First Baptist Church Lyons, and First Baptist church Wheelock. He and Roberta were involved in Mission Evangelism and church planting in Korea, the Philippines, Okinawa, Japan, and Ontario, Canada.
Rev. Irvin was a veteran, having served in both the Army and Navy. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post No. 159 in Bryan for several years. He worked for H&R Block for a number of years in the greater Bryan/College Station area and started Aggieland Safe Drivers in Bryan.
He is preceded in death by: parents, Ira A. Irvin, and Lula B. Irvin; first wife, Roberta Irvin; daughter, Cynthia (Cindy) White; sister, Mary Blanche Fink, and other family members and friends.
Surviving family: daughter, Nancy Williams and son-in-law, Solon Williams of Wimberley, Texas; son, Robert Irvin of Georgetown, Texas; grandchildren, Dr. Aaron Williams of Austin, Texas, Adam Williams of Wimberley, Texas, Alanna Irvin, Sean Irvin, and Mikayla Irvin of Georgetown, Texas, Andrew White and Jason White of Colorado; great-granddaughter, Eliza Jane Williams of Austin, Texas; son-in-law David White of Colorado; Trish Raines of Georgetown, Texas.
